Our Analysis

The BabyBjorn Active has been discontinued.

BabyBjorn has developed several different baby carrier models, and it can be confusing as to which model is best for you. In our Best Baby Carrier Review, we looked at three other BabyBjorn models: the BabyBjorn Original, the BabyBjorn Air and the BabyBjorn Miracle, all of which we felt were great carriers for newborns, but fell short of receiving our highest marks.

As far as cost goes, the BabyBjorn Active at $130 list is priced higher than the Original ($80) and the Air ($120), yet a lot less than the Miracle ($200). The BabyBjorn Active provides additional back support like the Miracle, but without the Miracle's waist belt, whereas the Original or Air doesn't provide any real back support at all. We found through hands-on testing that all of the BabyBjorn models are easy to use, lightweight and durable, and work great with newborns. However, as baby gets older, we found the BabyBjorn products have limited carry positions relative to competitors, and can be uncomfortable as baby gets older. Of the three we did test, we found the Miracle to be the best, mainly because of its additional shoulder and back support from its waist belt. We suspect the Active would come in somewhere between the Miracle and Original, based on its design.

Like the Original and the Miracle, the Active is available in a Cotton Mix, Organic Cotton, and breathable Mesh.
