Our Verdict

The UPPAbaby Minu v3 is one of the best travel strollers with the high-quality craftsmanship UPPAbaby is known for. The spacious storage basket is easy to access and can hold up to 20 lbs. It folds down small enough for travel and meets International Air Transport Association (IATA) carry-on standards, a major upgrade from the Minu v2, allowing it to fit in most airline overhead compartments. During testing, we noticed that the fold might require a bit more hand strength and dexterity, and at 16.7 lbs, it's slightly heavier than competitors. Still, the Minu v3 shines with smooth pushing, kid comfort features, and other thoughtful design elements that many travel strollers lack. It works from birth up to 50 lbs, making it versatile. It can also be useful for everyday use, not just travel. Although the higher price is a consideration, we love almost everything about the Minu v3, and its overall performance is hard to beat.

Transporting and Storing

The Minu v3 performs well for transporting and storing, scoring higher than most travel strollers. The stroller folds small enough for travel, but its weight keeps it from performing well.

The Minu v3 weighed 16.7 lbs, making it one of the heavier options. For context, the average weight is about 14 lbs, with the lightest being around 10 lbs. Although it weighs less than most full-size strollers and comes with a carry strap for convenience, you might still notice its weight when carrying it over longer distances. If you're looking for an ultra-lightweight stroller, this one might not be the best choice.

The Minu's folded size is International Air Transport Association (IATA) approved for air travel.

This stroller can self-stand when folded, and it measures 17.6"W x 9.2"H x 21.6"L in our tests, or 3,497 in^3. While some strollers in the group pack down even smaller, the Minu is on the smaller end of the spectrum. The folded dimensions meet the International Air Transport Association (IATA) carry-on size guidelines, making it airline-ready. However, it's best to check the carry-on size and weight limits for the airline you are flying with.

The carry strap is built into the seat. It's easy to grab and sling over your shoulder, and its padded design offers more comfort than basic thin straps. Since it's anchored to the frame, the carry strap tucks back into the seat when you unfold the stroller, keeping things tidy.

Overall, the Minu is very user-friendly, and we believe most families will really appreciate the convenient features it offers.

Ease of Use

The Minu v3 is generally user-friendly, and its performance keeps it ahead of most competitors.

Folding the Minu is manageable; however, the fold is more challenging than the unfold.

Fold and Unfold

The Minu v3 mostly folds itself once you activate the process, though you may need to give it a little assistance. This can be tricky if you're holding a baby in one arm. While it's not the most challenging stroller to fold, it might be harder for parents with smaller hands or limited mobility. Is it possible to fold it with one hand? Maybe for some. Unfolding, thankfully, is much easier.

The Minu fold mechanism requires pressing one button and sliding another to activate the fold.

Also, the folding mechanism takes some practice. It requires pressing a button and pushing the slider out of the center position simultaneously, which can require more hand strength and dexterity.

The storage basket on the Minu is easy to access and has one of the highest weight limits.

Storage

The Minu's large storage basket holds up to 20 lbs, one of the highest weight limits. It's accessible from the front and the back, and our large diaper bag easily fits inside.

The Minu has a useful feature we appreciate: a discreet pocket in the storage basket designed for a tracking device.

The Minu v3 offers a unique feature, and we're excited about it. It has a discreet pocket hidden in the storage basket, designed specifically to hold a tracking device like an AirTag or similar GPS tracker. This lets you keep track of your stroller's location during travel, whether it's gate-checked or stolen.

The harness on the Minu is efficient and user-friendly.

Harness

The Minu features a 5-point harness with shoulder straps that connect to the lap straps and clip together at the buckle. We like this design because it feels smooth and efficient when getting a child in and out of the stroller. One thing to keep in mind is that the crotch strap does not have padding, which some parents might prefer for added comfort. Considering the stroller's price, it would be great if it included this detail, as it really makes a difference for your child's comfort.

Minu's brakes are super easy to use because they're color-coded and gentle on your foot.

Brakes

The Minu v3 features single-action brakes with two color-coded pedals. They're designed to be foot-friendly with no uplifting, and they're easy to set and release.

Our main challenge was figuring out how to unfold the stroller during setup; otherwise, it was straightforward.

Ease of Setup

Setting up the Minu v3 was a mixed experience. Our main issue was unfolding the stroller, and we found the manual to be unclear. It only has pictures and no written instructions. Eventually, we figured out the problem, and the rest of the process went smoothly. Overall, the assembly requires a little patience to get going.

Car Seat Compatiblity

The Minu v3 is compatible with UPPAbaby Aria and Mesa car seats, and select Nuna, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi, and Clek models. Adapters for these seats are sold separately.

When it comes to maneuverability, especially on flat surfaces, the Minu performs quite well as a travel stroller.

Maneuverability

The Minu v3 provides better maneuverability than most in the group.

Minu's smooth ride results from thoughtful design elements such as its durable frame, wider stance, and suspension system. It smoothly moves over flat surfaces and handles curb climbing well. While one-handed steering is possible, it requires more effort. It faces some challenges in thick grass. Still, none of the travel options excel off-road. Overall, pushing this stroller feels noticeably better than others, making it a pleasure to use.

Quality

The Minu v3 offers the premium quality we've come to expect with the UPPAbaby brand.

It feels built to last, and we believe it should last for years and multiple kids. Both the frame and components are high-quality, and the fabric feels durable yet soft and gentle. It's also GREENGUARD Gold certified. A few scuffs showed up during testing, but nothing that would raise concerns about durability or long-term performance.

The Minu features a comfortable recline seat, soft materials, an adjustable leg rest, an extendable canopy, and a smooth ride that little ones will enjoy.

Kid's Comfort

The Minu v3 offers compelling features for keeping little ones comfortable.

We appreciate the recline for naps, but wish the seat had built-in ventilation for better airflow.

Seat

The seat is versatile and thoughtfully designed. It works from birth to 50 lbs. With infants, you can use the bassinet-style configuration or a compatible infant car seat (adapter sold separately). The user manual mentions that the bassinet style is suitable for infants up to 4 months old. However, given the choice, we believe it's best to select the infant car seat option.

The seat has an adjustable recline and leg rest. It reclines to 157.7°, one of the deepest reclines in the group. While it doesn't go fully flat, it's still deep enough for a comfortable nap. However, the seat is surrounded by solid fabric with no built-in ventilation, which can mean less airflow and make it less comfortable for a child to nap in hot weather.

The Minu adjusts smoothly from recline to upright.
Credit: Natalie Kafader

The recline range from lowest to highest is 42.2°, placing it on the higher end compared to the group average of 30–45°. It easily adjusts from upright to nap-ready.

We love Minu's sunshade! It expands, has a peek-a-boo window, and offers great coverage to keep your little one comfortable.

Sunshade

The Minu v3's canopy is among our favorites. The large mesh peek-a-boo window lets you easily check on your child. You can keep it closed or roll it up and secure it with a toggle to keep it open. The canopy provides excellent coverage, and an expandable zip-out section adds extra coverage and airflow. The fabric feels soft yet durable, and it's made from UPF 50+ water-repellent material.

Should You Buy the UPPAbaby Minu v3?

If your budget allows, the UPPAbaby Minu v3 is an excellent choice. It's more compact than a full-size stroller but still offers the features, quality, and functionality parents want. It can serve as a dependable stroller whether you're out and about daily or traveling frequently. We appreciate its versatility, as you can begin using it with your infant either with the bassinet-style setup or a compatible car seat, allowing you to use it from day one until your little one outgrows it. Choosing a stroller that grows with your child offers more value and helps justify its higher price.

What Other Travel Strollers Should You Consider?

The most compelling rival to the UPPAbaby Minu v3 is the Joolz Aer+, which is another top-performer compared to the competition. It has fewer features to be an even more travel-friendly stroller, but it still offers high-quality, and it's one of our favorites. If you're on a tighter budget, the Zoe Traveler offers a more affordable choice, costing nearly half as much as the Minu v3. Although it doesn't quite match the performance of the Minu v3, that might not matter as much to you if you're mainly using it for travel rather than your main stroller.
