Our Verdict

The Wonderfold Elite Pro Stroller Wagon is packed with tricks, outstanding versatility, and luxury. It offers a comfortable ride for kids and goes beyond the basics with customizable seating, padded five-point harnesses, legroom, and more. Parents will appreciate its generous storage, featuring pockets in almost every area, along with its adjustable canopy that offers UPF 50+ sun protection and mesh sides for added airflow. We also consider it a refined, quality stroller wagon compared to others. The trade-off is size and weight. Tight turns take more effort, and its folded size takes up more trunk space. Families who need something lightweight or frequently navigate tight spaces may find it cumbersome. While it comes at a higher price point, it remains more affordable than some double strollers and can be a smart long-term option, depending on how you utilize it.

Our Analysis and Test Results

Founded in 2019, Wonderfold originated and developed in Southern California. Their product line includes original utility wagons, stroller wagons, pet strollers, toys, and other items. These products are now available in the global market.

Ease of Use

The Wonderfold is highly versatile. Folding takes some patience, but unfolding is quick and easy.

The brake is intuitive, storage is generous, and it handles most everyday terrain without issue. Tight turns and sloped paths can take more effort, but on typical sidewalks and surfaces, it's comfortable to push.

Fold and Unfold

The folding process isn't as smooth or one-motion as the promo videos suggest. With multiple seats and fabric competing for space, it takes two hands to release both sides and some finesse to get everything tucked in just right. The trick is to close it partially from the top, then move to the side with the manual lock to cinch it together. Once you learn that sequence, it's manageable, but still mildly annoying. Unfolding, on the other hand, is much easier. Releasing the lock and pressing down on the sides opens the wagon smoothly, and the task can be done with one hand.

The Wonderfold Elite Pro offers exceptional storage to keep things organized.

Storage

Storage is a strength of the Wonderfold. It has a high 200 lbs weight limit and a clever mix of compartments, pockets, and pouches. With high sides, it can double as a gear hauler when you're with one kid and extra cargo. During testing, we were able to fit both large and extra-large diaper bags, sliding one under each seat with ease. Access to diaper bags can depend on your seat setup, but it's not too challenging. The detachable basket can be mounted on either the front or rear, and when unzipped, it can also hold a fully packed large diaper bag, offering quick access to items. Overall, the Wonderfold provides more storage than most wagons and double strollers, a significant advantage when you're out with two kids.

The wagon doesn't include cup holders. This accessory must be purchased separately. That said, if you use closed, leak-proof water bottles, there are plenty of places to stash drinks securely.

Harness

The Elite Pro features secure five-point harnesses. However, we noticed a few things during testing that keep the Wonderfold from being the smoothest system to use. The crotch strap cover tends to slide over the buckle, so you may need to pull it back before clipping it in place. The shoulder pads are large and can shift. Tightening the straps often requires multiple tugs rather than one smooth pull.

The buckle requires moderate pressure to release, which helps prevent kids from opening it, but the two-in-one clip design can slow you down. Since the waist and shoulder pieces must be threaded together before clicking in, they can separate mid-setup, adding an extra step, especially noticeable with a wiggly child.

Brakes

The single-action brake is easy to use. It's a large foot lever on the rear axle; even when the trunk is packed, it remains easy to access. An audible click and red and green indicators confirm that the brake is set. The wagon may shift slightly as the brake settles into place, but it locks in reliably. Releasing the brake requires pressing forward on the top of the lever, which is somewhat awkward but still sandal-friendly and straightforward.

Turning the Wonderfold is manageable but not its strong suit; it takes a bit more effort, especially when fully loaded.   Credit: Matt Lighthart

Maneuverability

The Elite Pro feels stable and capable on a variety of surfaces, but it lacks the nimbleness of some competitors. For most everyday walking environments, it performs well.

The adjustable neoprene handlebar makes pushing comfortable, and it rolls smoothly over open terrain. It fits through a 32-inch doorway and handles light off-road paths without issue.

However, its length and weight, especially when the front is loaded, make turning feel resistant, and sloped surfaces make it harder to maintain a straight line. While one-handed pushing is possible with this wagon, two hands feel more controlled and easier. The front wheels can be locked for extra control on sand or rough terrain, and the included pull strap is functional, though it's very basic.

Transporting and Storing

The Elite Pro can stand upright and roll when folded, which helps with garage or storage room organization.

However, its weight and size make it challenging to lift into a trunk. It works best if you have the space and don't mind the weight.

Weight and Folded Size

The Wonderfold is heavier, weighing 46.3 lbs in our tests. When folded, it forms a large rectangular shape measuring 24.75 × 42.2 × 21 inches (W × H × L). While some double strollers fold larger, this wagon is bigger than other wagons in our lineup.

It rolls like a suitcase and can stand or lie on its side. Something to note: if lifting heavy gear is a concern for you, this wagon may feel like a workout, especially if you're planning frequent car trips with it. Removing the rear basket or wheels helps in tighter spaces, but it remains a heavy and bulky wagon, best suited for larger vehicles when transporting it.

Kid Ride

The Elite Pro offers kids a comfortable, functional, and versatile ride, featuring multiple seating configurations.

Versatility and customization are the hallmarks of the Wonderfold Elite Pro, especially when it comes to kids' seats.   Credit: Matt Lighthart

Seat

This wagon is best suited for kids who can sit independently. The seating is customizable, and although it doesn't offer all the comfort features found on other contenders, it provides more than most wagons.

You can set up the seats for either front-facing or parent-facing positions, and their elevated placement provides kids with extra legroom. Each seat offers a modest recline and features a small mesh pocket for snacks. The wagon's mesh sides enhance airflow on warm days, and each side features an extendable cover stored in a zippered compartment, providing privacy, sun protection, or extra warmth as needed.

Sunshade

The sunshade is another standout feature of the Wonderfold, and one we think most parents will appreciate. It's actually useful, not just decorative. The removable canopy offers UPF 50+ sun protection, and you can adjust the canopy's position up or down, depending on the sun's angle. When not in use, the canopy and poles store neatly on the back of the wagon.

Quality

The Wonderfold feels more refined and durable than most wagons we've tested. The soft yet durable polyester fabric, strong stitching, and slightly stretchy canopy give it a premium feel.

Its sturdy frame and thick foam wheels, featuring 360-degree front rotation, and larger rear wheels, create a stable, well-built ride. Thoughtful touches, such as foam on the push bar and an inner privacy curtain, add to the experience. Cleaning is simple, and it comes with a one-year warranty.

Car Seat Compatibility

Wonderfold claims that car seat compatibility will be available soon.

Ease of Setup

Assembling requires some patience as it's not seamless, but it's manageable. The written instructions are brief and sometimes unclear, but the manufacturer's photos and videos are helpful. Getting the seats clipped on, threading the canopy, and tightening the straps can be tricky, and you might end up with a couple extra pieces, but everything unpacks easily, and nothing broke. Overall, the setup took us approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Twins

The Wonderfold is well-suited for twins, offering multiple seating configurations and enough legroom for both children to ride comfortably. It seats toddlers younger than many other wagons, but it is still not suitable for infants, making life with new twins incompatible.

Should You Buy the Wonderfold Elite Pro Stroller Wagon?

Depending on your lifestyle and how you plan to use your stroller, the Wonderfold Elite Pro Stroller Wagon is a strong contender. It delivers a stroller-like experience in wagon form and costs less than some double strollers. After testing it, we were genuinely impressed by how much it offers in terms of storage, comfort, and versatility.

What Other Double Stroller Should You Consider?

While stroller wagons are fun, they can feel bulky for everyday use and require more effort to maneuver in crowded areas. If your routine includes frequent walks, navigating tight spaces, or running errands, a traditional double stroller will usually be the better choice. Some award-winning double strollers are lighter, turn more smoothly, and require less effort to push, which makes a big difference when you're moving two kids regularly. The Zoe Twin v2 is a side-by-side stroller and a strong alternative at a similar price point to the Wonderfold. If you don't have a budget, consider the UPPAbaby Vista v3 Double, which is top-of-the-line and one of the best inline double strollers. If you're set on a wagon, the Radio Flyer City Luxe Stroll 'N Wagon is a more budget-friendly option that's easier to steer and simpler to use overall.
